Garages are more than a place to park your car. They also serve as a workspace, a tool shed, or an extra storage space.

Since garages have so many uses, it can get messy fast. Clutter is such a common issue that 84% of Americans worry their home isn’t organized enough. If you’re not adequately organizing your garage, the area can quickly get out of control.

There are many simple ways you can organize this area of your home. Take a look at the products that will help you spruce up your garage.

Best Products for Organizing Your Garage

There are quite a few products and accessories, large and small, that will help you organize your garage. Even implementing one or two of these products will make a massive difference to this space.

Storage Totes

Many of us own a ton of items that we can’t bring ourselves to throw out. Surprisingly, the average person has over 300,000 items in their home. That’s where storage totes come in.

Storage totes are a fantastic way to keep things you don’t often use out of sight. Instead of throwing out items you aren’t currently using, throw it in a tote. After filling up a few totes, stack them on top of each other and put them in the garage.

Stacked totes also act as a makeshift shelf. After stacking your full totes in your garage, feel free to put an item or two on top for decoration or extra storage.

Opt for large 30 gallon totes if you have a lot of items to put away. Choose totes that are aesthetically pleasing and match the decorative ambiance you desire. From colorful patterns to neutral solid colors, there are plenty of colors and styles available.

Shelving and Cabinets

Shelving and cabinets provide a storage option that is not as restrictive as storage totes. Both offer easy access to your items.

Garage shelving is wall-mountable or free-standing. Wall-mounted shelves save floor space, but free-standing shelves require little to no installation. Even if your floor is well-coated and resistant to damage, it’s best to leave the area clear to prevent tripping hazards.

Cabinets with doors are a better option than shelves if you prefer safer storage, as many of them offer locking mechanisms.

Wall Mounts

Ideally, your garage floor should be free from mess and miscellaneous items. While shelving units and cabinets are good places for these extra items, wall mounts are an even better option.

Wall mounts are usually installed for tools. Hammers, wrenches, and other tools are safely stored on wall mounts with hooks or caddies for easy access. You can even mount large items, such as vacuums and wheelbarrows, as long as you install a large and sturdy wall mount.

Wall mounts are also ideal for cords, hoses, and other utilities. Mounting a garden hose in your garage, for example, makes it easy to access and put away.
